Gok Wan was born on September 9th, 1974, in Leicester, United Kingdom to an English mother and Hong Kong father. As a child, Wan was bullied from other children because of his mixed race and the fact he was overweight, tall, and gay. Later, after trying some drastic diets he was diagnosed with anorexia.
During his career, Wok worked with a number of celebrities and his work was published in many famous magazines like Tatler, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Cosmopolitan. His work as a TV presenter includes How to Look Good Naked, Gok’s Fashion Fix, Gok Wan: Too Fat, Too Young, Gok Cooks Chinese, Gok’s Lunchbox, and others.

A year later, he published his second book, titled How to Dress: Your Complete Style Guide for Every Occasion. As you can see, he rose into prominence as an expert on fashion and clothing styles.
