Jerry Falwell was born on August 11th, 1933, in Lynchburg, Virginia together with his twin brother Gene. He graduated from the Baptist Bible College in 1956. He also gained 3 honorary doctoral degrees, Doctor of Letters from California Graduate School of Theology, Doctor of Divinity from Tennessee Temple Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Laws from Central University in Seoul, South Korea.
When he was only 22 years old, Falwell founded the Thomas Road Baptist Church. Originally, the church had only 35 members but it has become a megachurch since then. At the same year, Falwell started a radio and television ministry, the evangelist program named Old Time Gospel Hour.
In April 1958, Falwell married his wife Macel Pate. They had two sons, Jerry Jr. and Jonathan, and one daughter, Jeannie, together.
