Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu (created 7 November 1988), much better understood by his point name Tinie Tempah, is an English rapper of Nigerian descent, from South London. He’s been signed since 2009, a subsidiary company of Warner Music Group to Parlophone Records. He produced their own report and fashion label Disturbing London (DL Records) in 2007 together with his uncle, Dumi Oburota.
After releasing a few mixtapes, he launched his long-awaited debut album, Discovery, in October 2010. Preceded by 2 British top singles; “Distribute” and “Created within the Personalities”, the album charted at top and was accredited Platinum the following year. For Best British Single and Best British Breakthrough Act, he won two Brit Awards in February 2011.
In November 2013, he launched his next album, titled Display. Preceded by top singles “Trampoline” and “Children of Sunlight”, the album charted at number 3 and was accredited gold from the BPI the following year. In June 2015, he launched the initial single from his forthcoming third album, called “Not Letting Go”. This provided Tempah his sixth UK top, the most by any rap artist.
Early life
Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu was created to father and mothers from Ibusa, Delta State, Nigeria, on 7 in London, England.
Okogwu lived about the Aylesbury Estate in south east London till he was 12 together with his father and mothers and 3 younger siblings: Kelvin Kelly and Marian. The household later on transferred to Plumstead, Woolwich, with Patrick joining St. Paul’s Catholic School (now St. Paul’s School) in nearby Abbey Wood. After making 10 GCSEs, he got A Amounts in media studies, therapy, and religious studies at St. Francis Xavier Sixth Form College. At 12 yrs old, Okogwu imagined his stage name under which to create music after seeing the music video for So Solid Crewis “21 Seconds”. Tempah, since 2009, has been signed to Parlophone Records as an artist. Alongside supervisor and his cousin, Dumi Oburota, he co-started the independent label Disturbing London. Other artists are mostly British, including vocalist Sasha Keable and Wiz Kid, Rappers G FRSH and group About She.
Tempah is additionally a leading figure in modern British fashion. In 2012 he was called finest dressed guy in GQ’s Men of the Year Awards. In 2015, he was named one of the 50 greatest dressed of GQ, and was selected as the brand new men ambassador for London Menswear Collections, changing Nick Grimshaw British men.
