Tilman was born on June 25th, 1957, in Galveston, Texas. His father owned a seafood restaurant where Tilman worked after school, peeling shrimps. That gave him first taste of business environment and some valuable real-life lessons. He studied business administration and hospitality management at two universities. Tilman’s first experience as an entrepreneur was propagation and selling of Shaklee brand of vitamins.
He founded and ran a construction and development business in 80s, and also came with his first major project, the Key Largo Hotel in Galveston. Fertitta was a partner in the Landry’s Seafood, the first Landry’s Restaurant opening in Texas in 1980. After 30 years, owning the majority of Landry’s, Inc., he purchased all outstanding shares and has become a sole owner, which means he owns and operates more than five hundred restaurants and other spots and employs more than 50 thousand men in his companies.
He was elected to the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 2004. His own TV reality show titled Billion Dollar Buyer is planned to air on March 2016. Tilman is married and he lives with his wife Paige in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston, They have four children together. He allegedly owns personal Gulfstream jet and luxurious yacht.
