Thomas Gibson was born on July 3rd, 1962, in Charleston, South Carolina, as the youngest of four children. He was interested in performing arts since he was little and he was fascinated with Louis Armstrong. Thomas won a scholarship to Juilliard’s Drama Division and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985.
In 1987, Thomas appeared on television for the first time in a guest role on legal drama Leg Work. Five years later, he made his big screen debut in Ron Howard’s Far and Away as Stephen Chase. He was nominated to several awards, such as for the Golden Globe, and he won Entertainment Weekly in Under-appreciated Entertainer of the Year category in 2010.
