Susur was born 1958 in Hong Kong. At age of twenty, he immigrated to Canada. He worked his way on the top in some prestigious restaurants. That was the time when he decided to run his own business. Today, Lee owns two restaurants in Toronto. One is called Bent and the second one Lee. In the past, he also owned two others, Zentan and Shang, but eventually sold those.
His first wife was Marilou Covey. They married in 1978 but she tragically died in Korean Air Flight 007 accident in 1983. He met a new girlfriend Brenda Bent at the Peter Pan Bistro where she worked as a waitress and Susur as a chef. They started dating and eventually married in 1991. They are still together and have 3 kids together.
Susur Lee’s net worth keeps growing since he has restaurants generating him a lot of cash, salary from his appearances on reality television shows, such as Top Chef: Masters and Iron Chef America, and also money from sales of his autobiographical book called Susur: A Culinary Life. He certainly deserves his success.
