An American chef, reality show contestant, successful restaurateur and author Richard Blais is probably most known for his appearance in the famous reality cooking show Top Chef. Richard Blais was born on February 19th, 1972 in Uniondale, New York. He received an Associate degree in culinary arts from The Culinary Institute of America and has studied under great chefs, such as Thomas Keller, Daniel Boulud, and Ferran Adrià.
He published his cookbook, Try This at Home: Recipes From My Head to Your Plate, in February 2013. The book was nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award 2014 in the category of Cookbook: General Cooking. Richard appeared as a contestant on the 4th season of Bravo’s Top Chef. He become the runner-up, losing only to Stephanie Izard. In 2009, he appeared on spin off, named Top Chef Masters, assisting eventual winner Rick Bayless. A year later, he competed in Top Chef: All-Stars and won the competition. He appeared as a main judge on Top Chef Boston, season 12.
Richard runs severe restaurants – FLIP Burger Boutique, which is a burger-focused restaurant with three locations in Atlanta, one in Birmingham, and one in Nashville, and Juniper & Ivy, which is an American restaurant opened in San Diego in 2014. Richard married Jazmin Blais, a woman who was also in the culinary industry, so she understands his dedication to work.
