Nina Garcia was born on May 3, 1965 in Barranquilla, Colombia. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the Boston University and from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Garcia also attended Esmod, Ecole Superieure de la Mode, in Paris. Nina started her career in the fashion industry in the early 1980s, working in the public relations department for Perry Ellis and Marc Jacobs.
Than she worked in Mirabella as Assistant Stylist and Market Editor until she took a position at Elle. From 2000 to 2008, Nina was the Fashion Director of Elle magazine. Than she became the Editor-at-Large at the magazine. After 13 years at Elle, she advanced to a position of Fashion Director of Marie Claire in 2008. Five years later, she was promoted to Creative Director.
Nina covers the designer fashion markets of New York, Milan and Paris, and has become a fashion authority, you could see her in numerous television interviews. She was one of the judges for Miss Universe in Mexico City in 2007.
