Laura Leggett Linney (created January 5, 1964) can be an American actress and vocalist. She’s known for her performances in movies like Kinsey, Mystic River and The Truman Show, amongst others. She also performed the lead role of Cathy Jamison within the Showtime series The Big C, which finished its 4th and final season in May 2013.

Early life and education
Linney was created in Manhattan. Her mom, Miriam Anderson “Ann” Perse, is just a nurse who worked in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and her dad, Romulus Zachariah Linney IV (1930-2011), was a common playwright and teacher. Linney’s paternal great greatgrandfather was Republican U.S. Congressman Romulus Zachariah Linney. Linney was raised in modest circumstances, residing with her mom in a tiny one-bedroom apartment. She’s a half sister, Susan, from her dad’s second marriage.
She’s a 1982 graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School, an elite preparatory school in New England, that she now functions as the chair of the Arts Advisory Council. She subsequently attended Northwestern University before moving to Brown University, where she served to the board of Production Workshop, the student theater group of the university and studied acting with John Emigh and Jim Barnhill. Throughout her senior year at Brown, she conducted in one of her dad’s plays as Lady Ada Lovelace in a production of Childe Byron, a play by which Ada’s dad, the poet Lord Byron, repairs a tight, distant relationship with his child. Linney finished from Brown in 1986. She continued to study acting in the Juilliard School as a part of Group 19 (1986-1990), which likewise contained Jeanne Tripplehorn.
