Jonathan was born 1950 in California, USA. He received his college degree at the University of Nevada at Reno. Surprisingly, cooking wasn’t his first choice of a career. He spend several years trying to make some breakthrough as a musician. He played in rock band Lynx at one point.
He eventually decided against music and joined La Varenne cooking school in France. This investment into another education proved to be a great investment. Few years after, Waxman’s fame grew exponentially and he opened Jams Restaurant on East 79th Street in NYC.
