Jasmine Guy was born on March 10th, 1962 in Boston, Massachusetts, to an African-American father and Caucasian mother. When she was seventeen, she moved to New York City to study dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Jasmine started her TV career as a dancer on television series Fame, directed by Debbie Allen, in 1982. Than she moved to California and starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as Kayla.
Besides her dancing and acting career, she is also dedicated to singing. In 1990, Jasmine released her self-titled debut album, which was at 143rd place on the US Top 200 Album Chart. Jasmine is a woman of many interests. She wrote a book called Evolution of a Revolutionary, the biography of Afeni Shakur, who is the mother of Tupac Shakur. She also teaches dance to underprivileged children.
Jasmine married Terrence Duckett in August 1998 and they have daughter, Imani, born in 1999. In 2008, magazine People reported that Jasmine and her husband were divorcing because of irreconcilable differences. After the divorce, Jasmine with her daughter moved to residence in Atlanta, where she was raised.
