Ian Somerhalder was created and raised in the little southern town of Covington, Louisiana. His mom, Edna (nee Israel), can be a massage therapist, and his dad, Robert Somerhalder, is a construction contractor. Their family has deep roots within the American South. Swimming, boating, fishing and training horses filled a lot of his amateur time maturing, as did the school drama club and carrying out with the neighborhood theatre group.
