Geoffrey was born July 25, 1959 in Worcester, Massachusetts into the family of Armenian immigrants. After his studies at Culinary Institute of America, Zakarian found a first job as an apprentice chef in prestigious Le Cirque. Later, he was promoted to Chef de Cuisine. The years and determination slowly transformed into a great reputation. He bought several own restaurants and started appearing on TV.
After some former employees filed a lawsuit against him in 2011, Zakarian filed for bankrupcy. Later the same year, Zakarian opened restaurant named Tudor House at Dream South Beach. Although it offered unique culinary experience, it closed one year later. In 2015, he was a part of planned restaurant called The National that should be inside Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. Zakarian withdraw after Donald Trump‘s controversial remarks about illegal Mexican immigrants. Not only he most likely lost a $500,000 lease deposit because of it, but Trump also sued him for the sum in excess of $10 million.
Zakarian was married to Heather Karaman for cca. ten years. In 2005, he remarried. His second wife is a marketing executive Margaret Anne Williams. Since 2014, Geoffrey is co-hosting Food Network’s series The Kitchen. His net worth continues to grow, as he has several sources of income.
