Gemma Ann Merna (created 6 February 1984) can be an English actress and model. She’s famous for portraying the character of Carmel Valentine in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2014.
Career
Merna signed up with the cast of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks in August 2006. In 2007, she won Best Comedy Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2007. In the 2007 National Television Awards, she was selected for “Best Female Soap Actress”.
In 2008, Merna appeared about the video game program All Star Family Fortunes in a Hollyoaks V. Emmerdale unique. Against television personality Diarmuid Gavin, garden designer and gardener, she appeared on All Star Family Fortunes playing in February 2013.
In the spinoff show Hollyoaks, Merna appeared in 2009 as Carmel. She also appeared within an episode of the game show Hole in the Wall.
In Hollyoaks Best Bits and the documentaries 50 Greatest Wedding Shockers, she appeared in 2011.
In 2013 and 2014, Merna seemed like a panelist within an episode of Big Brother’s Little Privately.
In January 2014, she was a contestant about the ITV diving show Splash ! she was the very first contestant to be removed in the program in Heat One.
On 24 August 2014, it was declared that Merna had determined to leave Hollyoaks and would leave in one of Hollyoaks’ largest stunts in November 2014. Carmel was killed-down within an explosive train accident on 12 November 2014, with cast members and television critics commending Merna’s performance in her final scenes. Merna was created in Manchester and was raised in Worsley where she joined St. George’s RC High School.

Merna once shared a house in Liverpool with onscreen Hollyoaks sister Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays with Mercedes McQueen.
