David Burtka was born on May 29, 1975 in Dearborn, Michigan. He graduated from Salem High School in 1993 and than studied acting at Interlochen Center for the Arts, got his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Michigan and had further education at the William Esper Studios.
He first apeared in TV in 2002 with a guest role on The West Wing. His Broadway debut was role of Tulsa in the 2003 revival of Gypsy.
