Damien earned his bachelor degree in business at the University of California, Berkeley. He also graduated with MBA degree in business from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. His first job was an intermediate analyst in investment bank Goldman Sachs. In 2007, he started working as a senior consultant at Deloitte. This multinational company offers many financial services, such as auditing, consulting, and tax advisory.
In 2008, Damien Ritter and Hopsin started their own record label in Los Angeles. Their first artist was Damien’s younger brother Justin Ritter who is using stage name SwizZz. Other rappers who signed contract with Funk Volume include Kato, DJ Hoppa, Jarren Benton, and Dizzy Wright.
Although being successful Ritter and Hopsin got into dispute and eventually closed the label in January, 2016.
