Charlotte Riley biography
Charlotte Riley was born to parents Michael and Margaret Riley on December 29th, 1981 in England. Charlotte’s elder brother Simon and she, was raised in Co. Durham, England where Charlotte remained near to when she visited Durham University to review English.
Charlotte got a two-year break where she taught handicapped children drama, after graduating from Durham. Charlotte won a playwriting award for Moving Cecilia, a humor and also convinced the Arts Council to give a GBP5,000 grant to her. Charlotte subsequently continued to pursue an acting course in the London Academy of Audio and Dramatic Art and sixth months after ending this course was selected to play with Cathy Earnshaw in ITV’s version of Wuthering Heights.
After recording Wuthering Heights Charlotte was reunited with costar Tom Hardy for the gritty drama The Take of Sky One where the pair needed to act out a quite harrowing rape scene. Charlotte says her acquaintance with Tom assisted them through the scene; “Because we had done Wuthering Heights – once the love scene was truly enthusiastic – we had an excellent shorthand between us and understood exactly what we were doing. However in addition to we understood each other, it needed to be managed with delicacy and trust.”

Charlotte Riley started dating English actor Tom Hardy in July 2009 after working with him in The Take and TV movie Wuthering Heights. They got engaged later in the year 2009 and the wedding took place in July 2014. It was a private ceremony with close friends and family members.
Riley has a stepson Louis Thomas Hardy, born in 2008. He is the son of Tom and Rachael Speed.
