Carl was born on July 1st, 1965, in Blackburn, United Kingdom. His father is the former motorcycle racer George Fogarty. At first he raced for team Neil Tuxworth’s Honda UK in 1991, then he switched and raced as a factory Ducati rider in 1993. In another years he was switching between Honda and Ducati motorcycle brands.
He has won Superbike World Championship four times in his career, in years 1994, 1995, 1998, and 1999. Two years after his retirement in 2000, Carl set up the Foggy Petronas team in the World Superbike Championship. In 1998 New Year Honours, he was named the Member of the Order of the British Empire.
The brand Ducati released a special limited edition model, the Monster S4 Fogarty, in his honour in the year 2002. Carl Fogarty is married to Michaela since 1991. He and his wife own a house in a district of Lancashire, Lytham St Annes. They have two children together.
