Anita was born January 26, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio but grew up in Detroit, Michigan in her foster family. In 1975, she joined a funk band called Chapter 8. The group was signed by recording brand Ariola but in 1979 it was dropped because accroding to people in Ariola, Baker didn’t have star potential. She had to return to other jobs, such as receptionist and a waitress.
But she didn’t give up. In late 1980’s Anita became a star thanks to a huge success of several of her songs, such as Sweet Love. Baker is one of the best R&B singer of all times and her net worth reflects that. In 1993, Baker bought a huge house in Grosse Pointe, Michigan where she lives until today. It’s a very spacious real estate property with three-car garage.
Baker was married to Walter Bridgeforth, Jr. since 1988. She gave birth to their two sons. However, the couple divorced in 2007 after two years of separation. Her current relationship status isn’t clear but we guess she’s single as of 2015.
