Nicholas was born on June 25th, 1979, in New York City, and has 3 brothers, filmmakers Andrew Jarecki and Eugene Jarecki, and a successful finance executive Thomas A. Jarecki. When he was sixteen, he was hired as a technical consultant on the film Hackers, which started his life-long interest in making movies.
After his graduation, Nicholas tried directing music videos without a big success. After that experience, he decided to interview his favorite directors about how they started their career and finally got lucky when a literary agent liked his idea and got him a $50 thousand advance to write a book titled Breaking In: How 20 Film Directors Got Their Start, which started his career.
Nicholas Jarecki produced and directed his first film, The Outsider, in 2005. Since then, his work includes movies like The Informers in 2008, Tyson in 2008, The Weight in 2009, and Arbitrage in 2012, which was so far the most successful in his career, starring celebrities like Susan Sarandon, Richard Gere, Tim Roth and Brit Marling. He also founded a script writing resource called Beat Sheet Central. He’s now allegedly working on a new movie about electric vehicles.
