Bromstad was born August 17, 1973 in Cokato, Minnesota. When he was studying high school, youn David wanted to be a a Disney animator. And he devotedly purusued his goal. He got his college degree from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida that was known for having strong ties to Disney. And he really got the job as an illustrator at Disney.
Although he achieved his dream and the salary was nice, Bromstad eventually left and started his own company. It was Bromstad Studio, company focusing on the interior design. As a successful business owner, David enjoyed increasing net worth but also caught an attention of HGTV station.
He entered their reality TV show Design Star where he competed nine other designers. The prize was consisting from a car and (what’s even more important) a right to start own show on HGTV channel.
