Ahmed Zayat Net Worth
It’s very hard to make some assumption about Ahmed Zayat’s net worth in 2015. This famous entrepreneur and horse bettor went through many spectacular financial ups and downs. He earned a lot of money when he formed an investment group which bought Al-Ahram Beverages Company in Egypt and sold it after few years for triple. That was in 2002. Lowest point was probably when Ahmed filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in 2010. As of 2015, Zayat’s wealth is estimated to be somewhere between $5 and $50 million.
The thing is, Zayat operates frequently with so many assets and liabilities, that is really hard to estimate his current value. He also often bets on horse racing. Allegedly up to $200,000 per week. But he just doesn’t stand on sidelines. In 2006, he purchased a single colt for amazing price of $4.6 million. He later bought and bred many fine horses. He currently owns thirteen grade I winning racing horses, including famous American Pharoah.
Still, most successful deal Zayat probably ever did isn’t from the world of horse racing or betting. He made a fortune on smart investing. As a head of an investment group, he bought troubled Al-Ahram Beverages Company in 1997 and completely restructured it. Main part of the success was in introduction of non-alcoholic beer Fayrouz, specialty for Muslim markets. His investment group sold the company later for for $280 million to Heineken International.
In 2009, he encountered some serious financial problems when Fifth Third Bank sued him for $34 million in unpaid loans. This led to his bankruptcy. That was a long-term low in his net worth. However, today he’s financially well off again. Zayat has a big love for gambling and he bets on horses large sums very often.
