Manathoor Devasia Valsamma was born on 21st October 1960. She is known as one of the famous and well known Indian Athlete. She is known out to be the second woman in the sports world who has won with the Gold medal at the event of the Asian Games and the first to win it on Indian soil. She was born and raised up in the place of the Ottathai, Kannur district of Kerala. At the time when she was in high school education she made her way into the training of atheltics. She won with the very first medal at the time of the pentathlon in the Inter-University Championship at Pune in 1979. She made her way inside the Southern Railway (India). She has taken the training from the coach A. K. Kutty. She rose to the fame at the time when she won with the Inter-State Meet at Bangalore in the year 1981 by winning five Gold Medals. In the year 1982 she turned out to be the national champion over 400-metre hurdles. She has even grab up the victory over the Gold medal in the 400 m hurdles in an Indian all along with the Asian record time of 58.47 seconds at the place of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the year 1982 Asian Games.
