Thomas was married to Mary Katy Ryan from 1996 to 1998. The couple didn’t have children but Thomas has two kids with Kathryn Dennis, his current girlfriend. He lives with her since 2013. In 2007, Thomas was charged with selling cocaine and sentenced to ten months in federal prison eight months later.
In 2014, he participated in United States Senate election in South Carolina, finishing in 3rd place with 3.9% of the vote.
