Michelle was born on October 8th, 1971, in Glasgow, Scotland. When she was fifteen years old, she left school to pursue a career as a model, but her modeling career ended after she became pregnant and married Michael Mone. She has three children with him. After returning to employment, she got a marketing job with the Labatt brewing company and after two years she rose to a head of marketing in Scotland, but after revealing she embellished her qualifications on CV she had to go and set up her own business.
With her husband Michelle founded MJM International in 1996 and after 3 years of researching, designing, and developing has come the Ultimo bra. Thanks to her attractive figure, Mone also became brand’s main model. In 2013, after the divorce with her husband, Mone left the company, and two years after she resigned her directorships of MJM International Ltd and Ultimo Brands International to avoid any conflict of interest with her role as a member of the House of Lords.
Michelle’s elevation to the peerage was announced on August 2015 and she was introduced in the House of Lords on October 15th by fellow Conservative peers Lord Freud and Baroness Morris of Bolton. For her contributions, she gained the Order of the British Empire, OBE. She also made several appearances on television, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Apprentice.
