Dami Im was born on 17 October, 1988, in South Korea to opera singer Dong Eal Im. She emigrated to Australia when she was nine. Two years later, Dami began her studies at the Young Conservatorium at Griffith University. She has a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Arts degree in contemporary voice and worked as a music and piano teacher.
